Around Wilderspool - a short 7 km stroll from St Thomas' church, Stockton Heath (SJ 613 863) featuring North Cheshire's industrial heritage - viaduct, quay, transporter bridge, an industrial Roman settlement, a ship canal and a brewery.

[Take the A49 south from Warrington, cross the swing bridge into Stockton Heath, then turn right by the Red Lion into West Avenue. Turn right again and find a space at the far end of the car park.]

Thursday 28 July Another adventure with Notchy - Deepest Cheshire (2) - starting at 7.30 pm from The Golden Pheasent, Plumley Moor Road, Plumley - SJ 722 753.   7.95 km with 36 metres of ascent and lots of brine pumps. Blog report here.
Friday 15 July Lantern Pike, and the Snake Path - met at The Pack Horse (Market Street), Hayfield, at 7.30 pm for a summery 9 km jaunt over Lantern Pike and towards Kinder Reservoir via Carr Meadow, before descending back to Hayfield along the Snake Path. Blog report here.

Day 1. Saturday 11/6. Saltaire to Ilkley - 12km, 332m ascent. Start lunchtime. Staying in Hotel.
Day 2. Sunday 12/6. Ilkley to Skipton - 17.2km, 525m ascent. Staying at B&B.
Day 3. Monday 13/6. Skipton to Malham - 20km, 635m ascent.  Staying at B&B.

ay 4. Tuesday 14/6. Malham to Stainforth - 15km, 518m ascent.  Staying in Giggleswick.
Day 5. Wednesday 15/6. Stainforth to Scar Top or Chapel le Dale - 21km, 851m ascent .  Staying with friends.
Day 6. Thursday 16/6. Scar Top to Sedbergh - 20.4km, 661m  ascent.  Staying at B&B.
Day 7. Friday 17/6. Sedbergh to Newbiggin - 17.6km, 854m ascent.  Staying at Brownber Hall.
Day 8. Saturday 18/6. Newbiggin to Appleby - 20.7km, 351m ascent.  Return by train.

Tuesday 12 April Simister - met at 7.30 pm at Heaton Park Metrolink station, for a 11 km walk with Alan and Sheila to Whitefield Metrolink station via the northern part of Heaton Park and the villages of Simister and Unsworth. Not forgetting refreshments at the Same Yet Inn. Report here.
Saturday 9 April The Calderdale Hike - 27 miles in Calderdale, starting at 8 am at Sowerby Bridge Cricket Club. A fine day out. Our team of four even got a trophy! Report here.

Parkgate and Neston - met at 7.30 pm at The Boathouse in Parkgate for a 8 km stroll featuring a disused railway line, Neston quay and Parkgate promenade. Report here.
Wednesday 16 March Dover to Cape Wrath - another slide show for Stockport Walking Group, this time delivered by Mick and Gayle - started at Hazel Grove Civic Centre, 8pm, adjourning as always to The Grapes. A splendid presentation.
